By actively involving kids in the execution of the artwork we give them a sense of ownership and pride. The workshops are an essential component of our projects, because it ensures that the DreamCourts have a widespread social foundation. The kids who help paint the DreamCourts automatically become an ambassador for the court and the artwork. They share their enthusiasm with their peers and friends and engage in the playground more with more commitment and joy. Furthermore, in each of our previous project we learned that there is often an untapped creative potential in at least a handful of kids that may have otherwise remained unnoticed. By making art accessible and practical for these kids, we provide an example for them, showing that an artistic career is a reasonable and serious pursuit. DreamCourts loves to ignite any artistic passion kids may have and we hope to inspire anyone to develop and nourish that passion. The workshops are spread over the span of one or two days, depending on the number of participants. We guide and instruct the kids in their efforts to help us paint the DreamCourt. In this stage of the execution, the composition is sketched out onto the court and we give all participants an area to color in. Our workshops are for everyone and anyone. We encourage kids, but all ages are welcome. Background, religion, gender are not an issue. DreamCourts doesn’t discriminate or exclude. Even your skill level is of no importance. We will find something to do for anyone. Any ‘mistakes’ in this stage of the painting are very easily corrected over the course of the project, so there is no need to be scared or hesitant.DreamCourts provides snacks and drinks during the workshops. And DreamCourts loves to collaborate. Wherever we see an opportunity to join forces with a social partner, we try to make this happen. Our paint supplier for example, provides us with the best technical and practical advice at any time.But also for the DreamCourts workshops, collaboration is of key importance. We can’t imagine working without the support of parties in the community to help us find the right target groups for the workshops. Think of youth centers, schools, sports organizations or community-centers. Our manager, Emilie, ensures smooth and friendly communication between all parties to coordinate the best possible collaborations. Additionally, DreamCourts has a vast network of teams and parties who can help us organize a ‘post-DreamCourt’ project or a ceremonial opening event. Examples are 3x3 Unites, Showcase Basketball and Soufiane Touzani. Since 2021 we are working with the esteemed Johan Cruyff Foundation on projects with an even wider social reach. With the help of these partners and team-players, DreamCourts wants to make sure our projects are more than just an impressive piece of public art. We want to think about how we can improve and activate the beautified public spaces for the long-term. This starts by organizing an awesome opening event. But also by implementing an active mentorship program or periodic workshops and clinics, DreamCourts aims to make lasting social impact. About 3 weeks of which will be spent on the actual formal execution of the artwork. Design Process and Painting After we get the final ‘go-ahead’ for the project, we will initiate the design stage. At the start of this stage we will happily entertain suggestions from the city board of from the neighborhood. We will take these suggestions into consideration during the design process wherever we can. An initial concept will be presented after which a single and unanimous round of feedback can be provided. We will then fine-tune and finalize the design accordingly. This way of working benefits all parties as it combines artistic freedom and client feedback without unnecessarily slowing down the process. For the final painting we use high-quality concrete-paint which is durable, scratch-proof and UV resistant. We also add an anti-slip coating to the paint. The DreamCourt, if used and treated properly, will remain pristine for many years. Because of the extreme variations in artistic styles of the DreamCourts artists, there are tons of design possibilities to be made. Due to many years of experience, the execution of the artwork is professional, adequate and of the highest technical standards, whether the design is typographical or realistic in nature SAFETY Paint The paint we use for our DreamCourts is waterbased to ensurethat our work environment is as safe and responsible as possible. Water solluble paint however, remains a chemical product, so we take care of a responsible disposal of our leftover paints and materials after we finish our projects. Any technical documentation of the products we use is available upon request, and we make sure a copy is available for clients and authorities on our work site. Storage We store our project supplies and materials in our 20 feet long DreamCourts container. The container is adequatly equiped with solid storage racks and can be locked with a heavy-duty safety lock. Our container will be placed after consulting with our clients to minimize any damage to grass or roots. Not just by applying massive and impressive works of art, but also in the way we conduct these projects and by way of the social impact that they have on the communities we install them in. ATHLETICISM AND EXERCISE DreamCourts encourages kids to play sports and to exercise. We are massive sports-enthusiasts ourselves and we would love to see kids everywhere be more active andbe more assertive in the way they use existing athletic facilities. Especially in times where children spend more time behind screens of phones and videogames, and less on their community sports courts, DreamCourts finds it massively important to facilitate and encourage athletic aspirations among these kids. &nbsp; <img width="121" height="318" width_o="121" height_o="318" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/f89a44833a9b6580160b66679ccf30e9aa2bd40258cedaec6daed339fc6736f7/Color_bar_25.jpg" data-mid="222060774" border="0" data-scale="8" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/121/i/f89a44833a9b6580160b66679ccf30e9aa2bd40258cedaec6daed339fc6736f7/Color_bar_25.jpg" /> In this perspective, a DreamCourts project could potentially be installed in areas that have sporting facilities in state of neglect or in need of renovation, just so these locations can be re-activated and made attractive for engagement. DreamCourts wants to create spaces like these that prove to be an interesting and attractive alternative for screen-time and are welcoming and inviting for kids to play with pride, joy and a sense of responsibility and ownership.Experiences from our previous projects show us that especially that sense of ownership which kids encounter by participating in our workshops, strongly contribute to highly increased levels of participation. On top of that, this ownership creates a ‘trickle-down’ momentum because these kids want to show ‘their’ court to their peers, friends and relatives and challenge them to play a game on ‘their’ court. A DreamCourt provides all these stimuli, and more, to get kids moving and playing, even if only because their painted courts make for fantastic shots for their Instagram or TikTok profile. But with the massive mainstream attention it has received since, spiking waitinglists for basketball clubs acrossThe Netherlands, a relatively new and very exciting athletic discipline has launched itself into the spotlights almost overnight. To celebrate and endorse this succes, DreamCourts has installed four 3x3 courts in collaboration with the Johan Cruyff Foundation. We are extremely excited to support and facilitate this discipline in what we believe is a perfect match: Urban arts meets Urban sports in the public arena. Especially once a sports discipline hits the lime lights it is extremely important to capitalize on that momentum, by making sure we implement a wide-spread infrastructure. DreamCourts is proud and excited to contribute to generating attention, creating and facilitating space to play and grow this magnificent sport, while at the same time fulfilling a social demand. And who knows, together we just might help a future generation to win Olympic basketball gold. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT DreamCourts wants to involve the community into the creation of our artworks. For this, we work together with cities or youth organisations. This way, we reach those who benefit from contributing to these community projects the most.With our youth workshops we give guidance and supervision in the creative proces of painting our DreamCourts. This means that the kids get to see the design and they get to visualize how this design gets to be converted onto the courts surface massive scale. Then, like real artists they get to grab paint, rollers and brushes and help us paint ‘their’ court. Aside from the excitement of the participants, the workshops ensure a wide-spread sense of involvement and it offers a unique experience which brings about a sense of ownership and responsibilty. &nbsp; The impact of these workshops never ceases to amaze us. There has been room for feedback and input from locals. The installation doesn’t feel like a unilateral process from councils, executed by artists who, afterwards leave anonymously and leave behind an abstract work of art. Instead, the DreamCourts artists spend about two weeks creating the artwork and, in that period happily engage in conversation with kids who participated in the workshops, and with their parents too. Our artists are proud representatives of the DreamCourts values and philosophy and love to talk about their project and the reasons why they love them so deerly. One of the unique qualities of our projects is that with our DreamCourts, we see opportunities to make art accessible and interesting for everyone. Art makes the world, and in our case, the community, more beautiful, vibrant, and viable. Anyone who experiences art understands this. When you actually actively contribute to the process of art-making, you feel this even more profoundly. Especially art that is comprehendable and palpable can provide viable and inspiring stimuli. With our projects and our workshops, we want to provide an accessible and interesting platform for art, specifically street-art, inside communities. London, UKWhat: Full court football/basketball pitch with 360 degree wall painting.Client: Johan Cruyff Foundation.Year: 2023 For the Johan Cruyff Foundation we painted this very special court in the Clapham Commons area of south London. The project took two weeks to finish. We enjoyed the massive participation from the neighborhood locals. A great bunch of kids who live and breathe football. The design hints at Johan’s legacy. A reference to the city of Den Helder, which is strattled by both the North sea in the west and the Wadden sea in the east. Here we see Poseidon yeilding his mighty trident to fend off his opponents as he is holding a basketball in his other hand. Ready to overcome whatever adversities he might face in his quest for Marine domination.We had tremendous fun with this project that challenged our creativity and technical abilities with a massive amount of detail and compositional tension. We painted 4 courts throughout the Netherlands; Tilburg, Weesp, Apeldoorn and Amsterdam-Noord. With each court depicting a portrait of Johan with his famous number 14 in alternating typography and colorschemes, we wanted to reference a ‘Warhol-like’ series. Client: Renault, France We painted our first full size tenniscourt for Tennis legend Diede de Groot. Diede ranks number one in the world in paralympic tennis, accumulating countless grand slam titles. For this project we were asked by Renault to work together with Diede to come up with a positive and energizing design.
