For this DreamCourt, which was located almost directly under an Amsterdam Airport flightpath we wanted to make a little pun and say hi to all the travelers flying above.
Working on the immense scale canvasses that these basketball courts provide us with, we figured we could make a design that would be visible from an aiplane. And witnesses from up above have told us it was:)
Wishing everyone on route to their faraway destination a very pleasant flight by writing in big, bold lettering ‘HAVE A NICE FLIGHT’ was not just a polite gesture. We also intended it as a references to flying as high and gracefully as possible on the court. Whether you’re on a skateboard, a rollerkate or flying to the rim for a slamdunk.
We executed this painting in 90s-like pastel blues and pinks and created a collage figure that is at the same time both a basketball player and a skateboarder as a reference to the court being used for both disciplines simultaneously.
After the DreamCourts artists painted their way through literal snow and scroching sun, the result was a rewarding immersive world of color. Of course with lots of thanks to all our awesome workshop participants.
SHOWCASE BASKETBALL once again delivered a sparkling and entertaining opening event with awesome demos and lots of fun and smiles.
